The styles of realism impressionism and post impressionism were alike in that they all took the art of painting to the outdoors at an age when portraits and still paintings used to be done in the indoor studios. Both realism impressionism and post impressionism paintings involved painting of subjects while in the outdoors. This allowed the painter to bring in the light source and the effect of the light on the subject using brush strokes.

The two, realism impressionism and post impressionism were also similar in that the painter made a conscious decision to make the brush strokes obviously visible. This was made possible by the visible lines and shades brought in by the use of brush strokes and color. There however are a few differences between realism impressionism and post impressionism. Except for the fact the realism impression came before the post impressionism, realism impressionism introduced the idea of painting the subjects while in the outdoors.

In the realism impressionism, a painter used short and highly visible brush strokes, bringing in short and highly visible lines in the work. The painter would also use mixed or unmixed paint to make a painting's color as real as possible, this brought in the effect or real colors and shades. However with the introduction of post impressionism came the painting of obviously visible and long brush strokes causing a paining to have long visible lines. Painters would also go the extra mile by mixing colors to bring out an effect that was not natural hence the result of unnatural colors and shades. While realism impressionism focused on painting of real things like nature and people the post impressionism painters focused on painting people as geometrical objects.

Masaccio's Tribute Money is a representative of the renaissance art because it is very modern (has in it very modern buildings). Renaissance art represents paintings done during the renaissance period. This is a period when there were many developments in society in architecture and philosophy. Rembrandt's Nights Watch is on the other hand a good representative of the Baroque as it acts as a painting that communicates moral stories to its audience. The use of light and dark shades to emphasize the subject that the painter wants the audience to focus on in Rembrandt's night is also a common characteristic of baroque paintings.

Both paintings- Picasso's Demoiselles d'Avigon and Roy Lichtenstein's Whaam! Use lines to communicate a message. Picasso's Demoiselles d'Avigon uses incomplete straight lines and dull colors to communicate gloom or seriousness while Roy Lichtenstein's Whaam! Uses continuous complete lines and bright shades to communicate danger.

I feel that Picasso's Demoiselles D'Avigon is older in the age it was painted than Roy Lichtenstein's Whaam! This because of the use of bright colors, slang and airplanes in Roy Lichtenstein's painting and the use of naked women in Picasso's Demoiselles D'Avigon which could have been done a long time ago, when society was less modern. Roy Lichtenstein's Whaam! Also seems to be part of a comic story that was done for a much younger target audience than Picasso's Demoiselles D'Avigon.
